It’s All About the Shoes…

…Shoe Organizers that is.

What a better way to start off the Spring and Summer than to hit the mall and shop for those shoes that you have been eying for days, weeks, and even months? But you know how that goes, 1 pair turns into 2 and 2 into 3 and so on? So the question then turns to, “where am I going to put them all.”

To keep your closet from becoming a hazard, you need a place to neatly store your new favs. That’s where shoe storage comes into play. Storing your shoes properly keeps them from getting scuffed and damaged in your closet and best of all, keeps them from getting separated so you know right where they are when you are getting dressed in a hurry. We have tons of options for you to chose from and I’m sure you will be able to find something that fits your style, budget and home decor.

Happy Organizing!

National Cell Phone Recycling Week

Do you have an old cell phone that you just can’t seem to get rid of? You know what I’m talking about; that phone with all the scratches, multiple dead batteries, and broken antenna that for some weird reason you just can’t seem to get rid of. Well come on; it’s time to say goodbye; after all, it is just taking up space in your junk drawer. But don’t just throw it out; recycle it!

For the second year in a row, The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Plug-In To eCycling program is teaming up with leading cell phone makers, service providers and retailers to launch National Cell Phone Recycling Week! From April 5-11 cell phones can be returned to retail stores in person or through the mail to be recycled.  Visit the EPA’s website for a list of the participating companies and follow the instructions listed by each specific company.

The 40th Anniversary of Earth Day is coming up near the end of the month and this is the perfect way to start thinking Green for 2010.

Happy Recycling!

Organize.com In Family Circle

Do you have the April 17 Issue of Family Circle Magazine?  If not, make sure you grab a copy when you are in line at the grocery store.  On pages 29-37, Producer John Locke and Senior Associate Home Editor Kate Doherty put together a great feature called “Finders Keepers” and offer up some great tips on creating a fresh new look for your home through the use of what they call flea market castoffs and a dose of good old fashioned organization.

While John focuses his attention on being Thrift Store Savvy and turning unwanted furniture and decor into clever works of art and fashion, Kate’s focus is on using handy, cost effective items to get organized.  On Page 37  you will find a very inexpensive and very useful tool that you can find at Organize.com; the Utility Caddy from Romanoff Products.  This space saver/organizer, available in 3 colors, keeps all your cleaning products in one spot and makes it easy to tote them from room to room.

A very big thank you to all the folks at Family Circle; this is another great issue!

Most Organized Mom Contest

Just in time for Mother’s Day we have contest that will put the spotlight on the most organized mom, aunt, sister, neighbor, or best friend in your life!  The Most Organized Mom Contest is one of our favorite contests that we run all throughout the year because we really get to learn about some amazing women who deserve some recognition for what they do on  a daily basis.

The guidelines are simple; between now and April 23, 2010, in 250 words or less, email (organizedmom@organize.com) and tell us why this woman deserves to be named the Most Organized Mom of the Year at Organize.com. We want the details! Include all the funny and crazy things your nominee does to stay organized and include pictures (we love them!).  Make sure to also include contact information for you and your nominee (i.e. name, shipping address, email & phone number).

We want to shower someone you love with great gifts this Mother’s Day! The woman crowned the Most Organized Mom will take home up to $500 in awesome prizes from Organize.com.

So what are you waiting for?  Let’s hear something great about the Most Organized Mom in your world.

Oh, one other thing; while we really love and appreciate all the Professional Organizers out there, please leave this contest to the amateurs.

Happy Organizing!
