Organize.com on the Nate Berkus Show TodayLearn how to Take Back Your Life with Nate Berkus and Peter Walsh on the Nate Berkus Show today. We’re super excited about this episode because Organize.com is a part of it. I can’t wait to tell you all the details, but Allie, Melissa and I worked on location with Nate, Peter and their teams for the makeover of one amazing Mom. Then, Allie and I flew to New York for the studio taping on Nate’s set. We had so much fun being in the studio and with Peter behind the scenes. Check your local listings, tune in and watch for the rest of the details of our adventure. Happy Organizing!
Peter Walsh Tip of the Week – Warranties & ManualsThis week, Peter talks warranties & manuals. Keeping these and personal documents organized and in one place is such an important subject. Peter’s Tip: Keep important documents in one place. One of my favorite Peter Walsh questions is: “Can you find your passport, birth certificate or marriage license or any other important documents in fifteen minutes or less?” If the answer is “no”, you’ve got some work to do. So, get going! Find a document file that works for you. Gather your families important documents and put them in one safe place. Family emergencies happen, so get prepared. If you have small children, its’ also a good idea to keep an emergency permission letter saved on your desktop that you can update and print at any time. I learned the hard way when I was in a summer baseball camp carpool with one of my best friends who was away for the day. Her son was hit in the head by a baseball and needed treatment. I was the emergency contact, but did not have a permission letter to have treatment administered at the emergency room. Why? Because we just didn’t think about it. Luckily, the camp office was not far from the hospital. They delivered the card and treatment was given to him. He was fine, but you can imagine that we had letters for each other by that night for camp and for any time other time that we took care of each others children after that. Happy Organizing!
Labeling – Peter Walsh Tip of the WeekOut of sight, out of mind’ is not just a cliché, It’s a hard truth, says Peter Walsh. The moment you put something away you risk forgetting where you put it and then spending hours searching. Consider labeling those bins in the garages, the boxes in your closet, the freezer bags in your fridge, the bins of kid’s toys and even the canisters in your baking cupboard so that next time you need to find something fast, you’ll know exactly where it is. A simple label today can save you a serious headache tomorrow! Peter is so spot on and the best part of labeling is that it can be simple, inexpensive and very creative, if you are willing. I found a really clever label idea over at landeeseelandeedoo. and I’m giving Landee the bright ideas award for labeling. What Landee can do with labels is – well, fantastic! I love what she’s done with organizing and labeling her food storage containers and she tells me she has more. As you know, I’m crazy over things that allow you to ‘design on a dime’, and this my friends… is one of them. Check out the food storage at Organize.com to find something that works in your kitchen or pantry. Whether you are looking for plastic food storage or fun, clear colors like these from Zak, I know you will find something  just for you. Oh…don’t forget the erasable Label Once food storage labels for those who aren’t crazy about crafting. Our customers love them. If you have creative storage ideas, share a picture on our Facebook page. You could be our next fan of the week! Happy Organizing!
