Thank You for My Birthday Wishes

I wouldn’t usually write about my own birthday, but I have so much to be thankful for this year that I just had to.

As always, Terry made it a spectacular day. He never falls short of being the best husband ever, filling my day with the sweetest things and lots of love. Lucky…I am.

My daughter and partner in crime posted something special on our blog for her mama’s birthday. I just couldn’t resist sharing it with you.

It went like this….

Today is the Mamala’s birthday! And guess what? I feel like a bad bubbala for not being with her today. You see, birthdays are a big deal in this family (I mean, I usually get a month to celebrate mine to put things into perspective) and she always, always make a BIG to do of mine. But don’t worry, I do have tricks up my sleeve. So I’m posting a little somethin’ something’ because I wanted to say just a few small wishes before I’m able to celebrate the bejesus out of her when I fly down next week. So with that said…

Happy Birthday to you, Mamala. I wish you the happiest birthday and hope you’re having a exceptionally lovely day. I’m sorry I’m not there with you today but don’t worry, I would never short you on any and all proper celebrations of the oh-so-fabulous you because well, not only do you deserve celebrations to the nines but I can’t WAIT to see the look on your face when you unwrap what I have here, tied daintily with a bow, just for you. I know you’re dying to know what it is so I’ll give you one hint: it’s two of a kind. Yes, two – not one – because I loved it so much I got one too so we could be twins! Doesn’t that sound like something I would do? But it’s the only two in the entire world, and they’re ours. Just you and me, chicky. But that’s all I can say for now… aren’t surprises fun? It’s killing you inside…isn’t it (I secretly love this game because you do it to me all the time, ha!).

So next week it’s ON. You, me, presents, cupcakes + champagne. In the meantime, I hope you are being pampered today with love and pretty things that come in pretty packaging because I know you love that. And hey sister, did you see all the love on your facebook wall? There’s just something magnificent about checking your facebook on your birthday and to see all the love and wishes from the family and friends who are thinking about you today. But that’s the thing about love, when you open your arms and heart the way you do for others, that love comes right back and it’s just for you. I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more.

I walked into my office this morning only to find that my team decked it to the nines in birthday wishes. The lights were off, the cupcakes were lit as they jumped out to wish me Happy Birthday. There were streamers, ‘quote notes’, decorations and a handmade card filled with love and good wishes. No others could quote me as they could with… ‘were are we at?’, ‘look at yoooouuu’, ‘get out of here!’, ‘oh my gosh’ or ‘my husband is going to kill me’!

BIG thanks to Antoine, Crystal, Melissa, Phil and all my family and friends. WOW! You make every day great and I’m one lucky gal.

Farewell Steve Jobs

I couldn’t say it any better than this…

Easy Halloween Baking For All Mommies

So, the other day a working Mommy was telling me that just because she works outside her home, she doesn’t want her children to have or do less than the kids whose Mom’s stay at home. Of course, I totally get that. The advice I gave her went something like this: Be creative, be organized and fill whatever you do with lots of love.

You don’t have to spend a fortune on a project or treat. Sometimes the fun of it all is making do with what you have and getting the children involved. Shop online rather than having to visit multiple stores and remember to leave time for shipping. You may not be a DIY type of gal or guy, but you can bake up two-dozen cupcakes (realizing this could be at midnight), dress them up with really cute Halloween cupcake liners and toppers like these from Meri Meri – and you can nail it like no other.

Simple, so cute and the kids will love them.
